MY MORNING ROUTINE – IN 5 EASY STEPS
In partnership with my friends at Secret Deodorant
We all know that starting our morning off right has a lasting impact throughout the day. In an ideal world, we would sleep soundly for eight consecutive hours and leisurely glide out of bed to the sound of birds chirping, breakfast made and bountiful energy. More often than not, the reality is a little more, shall we say, hectic; snooze buttons, kids, emails, did I mention kids? So here are five quick and easy ways that add some civility to my morning:
1. The Night Before
A smooth morning actually begins the night before. I like to plan what I’m going to wear the night before, for one less thing to think about in the morning. This works especially well with workout gear, I find that if my workout clothes, running shoes and Secret Aluminum Free deodorant are set out and waiting for me, I’m more likely to put them on and actually get moving first thing.
2. Gratitude Journal
It may seem like an easy omission, especially during a busy morning, but I prioritize writing in a gratitude journal every morning (and night). Five minutes won’t make or break a schedule and the payoff is huge. Not only is active gratitude likely to increase your recognition of reasons to be grateful but it’s also touted as having physical and psychological benefits.
3. Water
Think of a buoyant vibrant plant, now picture the last poor wilted greenery that succumbed to your lack of a green thumb. Seeing that humans are comprised of more than 70% water, I think you know where I’m going with this: drink some water and then drink some more. As soon as you’re up and out of bed, fill the biggest reusable bottle that you have and take it everywhere, bonus points for every time that you refill it. Your brain and energy level say thanks.
4. Get Outside
I aim to run several mornings a week and I’m always thankful for the days that I do. But it’s not always possible and if running isn’t your thing, even a simple walk around the block is an excellent way to start your day. If you’re able, walk the kids to school or to get your morning tea; fresh air really can change your entire morning. Secret Aluminum Free Deodorant is perfect for these low impact activities to help fight odour.
5. Body Mindfulness
Our bodies are naturally designed to detoxify but there’s so much coming at us that I try to help my system along with vitamins, a healthy diet and internal cleansers like warm water and lemon juice. I’m also mindful of the products that I use and opt for those that don’t have a lengthy ingredient list – it makes me happy to see brands like Secret Aluminum Free Deodorant follow suit. With an ingredient list that you like Secret Aluminum Free Deoderant is free of parabens, talc and dyes and, of course, aluminium and is a great bridge for those who want to swap their antiperspirant for a deoderant.
